What's New
This summer, as hundreds got sick and three people were
killed from eating spinach contaminated by E. coli bacteria, the food
manufacturing industry launched an attack on food safety laws. After passing a bill in the House to
eliminate state and local food safety protections, the industry turned to the
Senate to finish the job. U.S. PIRG
worked to oppose the attempts to set food safety back at a time when it should
be moving forward. Ultimately, the
Senate rejected this attack on food safety protections by refusing to even hold
a vote.
