We simply use too much energy and get too much of what we use from dirty, dangerous sources like oil, coal, and nuclear power. As a result, we end up drilling in pristine places, polluting our air and water, threatening the planet with global warming, and consumers are left vulnerable to price spikes and rolling blackouts.
We need a smarter, cleaner energy future. We are working to enact policies that will use America's technological know-how to develop newer, cleaner sources of energy and make our cars, homes and appliances more energy efficient.
Campaigns:
Campaign for a New Energy Future: With war raging in the Middle East, volatile oil and gas prices, and global warming threatening our future, we cannot wait to change the direction of our nation’s energy policies.
Break America's Oil Habit: America can reduce our dependence on oil by raising gas mileage standards to 40 miles per gallon.
Stop The Bush Energy Plan: The Bush energy plan is dirty, dangerous, and doesn’t deliver for consumers.
In the States:
In this crucial moment in the struggle for global warming solutions and a sensible energy future, the state PIRGs and our partner environmental groups look forward to building on our thirty-year history of state-level advocacy to advance a meaningful and results-oriented sustainable energy agenda. With our track record on victories, our greatly enhanced capacity to drive policy development, and our on-the-ground presence in the states, the State PIRGs and our partners are ready for the task. More.
