Safe and affordable health care is vital to a strong society. Unfortunately, as hospital deaths due to unsanitary conditions and Vioxx tragedies show, large HMO’s and pharmaceutical companies do not have the public interest at heart. We believe that even a single preventable death is unacceptable. USPIRG is fighting for the high quality care Americans deserve by making sure our prescription drugs are not harmful, and that patient’s rights are protected.

Campaign For Safe Prescription Drugs: Dangerous drugs like Vioxx threaten harm, not heal. We are working to give the FDA the resources and authority to protect consumers from unsafe drugs.
Campaign For Affordable Prescription Drugs: Americans pay too much for their prescription drugs while drug companies make windfall profits. We are working for common sense reforms to make sure consumers pay a fair price.
Safe & Affordable Health Care: Americans pay more for health care and get less for our money than any people in the industrialized world. We need affordable, high-quality health care, not expensive, bare-bones health plans.
