End The Nicotine Trap

PIRG builds support for FDA’s plan to end sale of menthol cigarettes

On April 28th, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced its plans to take menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars off the market. These landmark proposals could help end the epidemic of youth tobacco use.

In collaboration with tobacco control groups, such as the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association, we’re circulating a health professionals’ letter to the FDA in support of the proposals. We hope to display widespread support among the health and medical communities for ending the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars. If you’re a health professional you can view the letter and add your name here.

We’re also taking part in a webinar hosted by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where we’ll cover the importance of the proposed rules and how people can engage in the comment process. See details and register here.
