Gov. Janet Mills mandated vaccinations for health care workers

PORTLAND, Maine — Gov. Janet Mills announced on Thursday that health care workers in Maine will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 1, 2021. Maine is among the first states to take such an action.

In response, PIRG Public Health Campaigns Director Matt Wellington issued the following statement:

“The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over. With the spread of the Delta variant, infections and hospitalizations are increasing in Maine. Vaccinations are our best defense against this dangerous disease, and it’s critical that health care workers get vaccinated to protect themselves and those they care for. Governor Mills is making the right move to ensure the safety of Mainers, and I hope other governors will follow suit.”
