Colorado passes one of the country’s most comprehensive PFAS restrictions on consumer products, oil and gas production

On Wednesday, Colorado’s state Legislature passed one of the most comprehensive state bills in the country restricting the sale of consumer products containing PFAS. The bill also aims to restrict PFAS chemicals in fluids used in oil and gas extraction. Many of the restrictions in the bill will go into effect as early as 2024.

Statement: Congress should pass legislation to protect drinking water from PFAS contamination

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Rep. Chris Pappas of New Hampshire introduced the Clean Water Standards for PFAS 2.0 Act into the Senate and the House this week. The bill would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish limits on how much PFAS chemicals producers can dump into waterways and to set water quality criteria to protect human health.

 The only nuclear reactors under construction in the United States are now projected to cost more than $30 billion -- and the price tag for Plant Vogtle near Augusta, Georgia, doesn’t even include $3.68 billion that the project’s original contractor paid to the owners after going bankrupt.
