At U.S. PIRG, we understand the problems of our country are neither conservative or liberal. They are problems that affect all of us, whether we live in a red state, blue state or purple state. And, to solve them, we need to find common ground around commonsense solutions.

Congressman Walter Jones often exemplified this belief. He worked with anyone he felt had a good idea that would help his constituents, regardless of what party introduced the bill. For instance, he co-sponsored the Government by the People Act, a bill that would have reformed campaign finance and bought more of those constituent voices to the table.

Congressman Jones was a man of principle who was more concerned with the voices of his constituents than the voices of party or special interests. Our sincere condolences and sympathy to the friends and family of Congressman Jones.
