Statement: Massachusetts makes important commitment to have all new cars sold in state produce zero emissions by 2035

Following California’s lead, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker plans to phase out the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. The announcement, which was made Wednesday, came as part of the draft Clean Energy and Climate Plan for 2030.

Statement: Congress' veto override cements huge win against money laundering

The U.S. Senate voted Friday to override the president’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Combined with a similar House vote Monday night, that makes the NDAA law. The Act includes critical reforms to thwart money laundering, previously contained in the Corporate Transparency Act, and also closes a loophole  which allowed people to form a company in all 50 states with no record of who owned or benefitted from that entity.

Statement: Landmark health care consumer protection legislation signed into law

As part of the larger government funding bill, President Donald Trump signed bipartisan legislation into law Sunday that will protect millions of consumers from outrageous health bills from out-of-network providers. These unfair surprise bills come from balance billing -- when out-of-network medical professionals charge you the difference between their fees and the maximum amount allowed by your insurance company.
