Doug is president and executive director of The Public Interest Network, a unique set of groups that share a vision of a better country, a set of core values, and a coordinated strategic approach to getting things done. In 1979, Doug became executive director of MASSPIRG, where he led campaigns and built a team that raised the organization’s public profile and grew its budget tenfold. Over the following decades, he conceived and organized Fund for the Public Interest, U.S. PIRG, National Environmental Law Center, Green Century Capital Management, Green Corps and Environment America, among other groups. Within the public interest and progressive movements, Doug is an advocate for the need to reexamine liberal ideas, transform progressive and environmental politics, and emphasize social entrepreneurship, training, grassroots activism, citizen participation and volunteerism. Doug lives in Denver. He is a passionate Alpine skier and has dubious taste in Mexican food.
